My 3D 2 class had some downtime last week at the end of the quarter. We took 4 days to carve pumpkins. The students had Friday off for parent-teacher conferences so their finished pieces were due on Thursday, which was Halloween. Finished pieces are viewable in the slide show below. If I did this project again I would definitely allow more time for students to work. I would also store the pumpkins outdoors when they were not being worked on purely for preservation. My classroom has been so warm this year that mold quickly formed and we went from having an art project to a science experiment!
