I met Massimo and Leila Vignelli, two of the most innovative and famous designers, in Ireland 5 years ago. I was fortunate enough to attend a print show called Offset 2009 with my artist friend, Daniel Danger. The show was incredible but the highlight for me was seeing the Vignelli’s speak about their collaborative creative career and then having dinner with them later that evening. They were inspiring. To see the sheer amount of work they had made over the last 50 years was incredible.
We are very lucky to live in Rochester and have the Vignelli Center for Design so close by. The Vignelli Center is on the Rochester Institute of Technology campus.
The Vignelli Center for Design Studies holds the extensive archive of legendary designers Massimo and Lella Vignelli.
In addition to the Vignellis’ archive, the Vignelli Center also has two galleries dedicated to exhibiting work in the archive and collaborates with galleries on the RIT campus to display work by great designers.
Have you ever been to NYC and seen that iconic looking subway map? Well the Vignelli’s designed that too! They are behemoths in the design industry.
