Art 8: Scanography

Scanography is photography using a scanner as your camera. Art 8 created self portraits as though they were trapped beneath a sheet of glass. Some chose to use words while others emphasized their expressions. This project now extends into the art room and some more traditional materials. They will transfer their image to a scratchboard and create scratch art. The interesting thing about scratch art is that instead of drawing dark lines and outlines, students will be focusing on the highlights.

For Middle School Parents Night I had a scanography station set up. Eighth Grade students were able to teach their parents about the process and they worked together to create these scans:
