Start Blogging

After my post about all the AC Bloggers I thought it might be helpful to share some tips on how to get started.

  1. You need a platform from which to blog. Most are free and easy to use. Many come with guides that will walk you though the initial set up (as well as  more complex development if you so desire)…
    Tumblr
    WordPress
    Blogger/Blogspot
    Weebly
    Edublog
    Kidblog
(more info on several of these options in an earlier post: What tech to use and where?)
  2. Look for inspiration
    http://langwitches.org/blog/
    http://www.freetech4teachers.com/
    http://coolcatteacher.blogspot.com/
(Those are three of my favorites)
  3. Write
    Yes, it’s that simple.
    Start typing.
You don’t have to publish everything, you don’t even have to publish ANYTHING.
What you need to do is start writing.
    Brainstorm.
Reflect on a class, a lesson, an experience?
Make a list of thoughts or ideas.
Post a photo or video that you find inspirational.
    Write about a teachable moment.
It doesn’t have to be grandiose. It can just exist.

  1. Nice post, Amy. I know getting started was the most challenging part for me. I too found the Langwitches Blog to be an amazing resource and an inspiration. It was there I found this great video about why you should share your ideas:

    Thanks for your post!

    • You’re so right. It’s just a matter of getting over the initial fear. Like anything we are afraid of the unknown. Trying something new like blogging is a fun challenge and a great way to break out of our classrooms and explore some new methods.
