Fruit Tile Prints

We looked at the artwork of Andy Warhol, specifically his fruit prints. We talked about complimentary colors and the use of black. The class discussed what a fruit is and why it is different than a vegetable, then we made a list of fruits. Students create a collage and a tile (made from styrofoam and carved into using a pencil). They then learned the printmaking process and printed their tile four times around a central point.

These are all close ups, but I will post full on images once I edit out students signatures.

    • It was fabulous. The 4th graders really dove in. I would have loved to have given them fresh fruits to look at as a reference when drawing.
